Issues of the Heart and Its Release

the scariest thing in life
it used to be the easiest for me
to present yourself a potential wife
your heart wide open for this man to see.

but when it is done once
and your heart is taken from your hands
you spend your days, weeks, months
waiting at his demands.

it is you that your friends question
"but my heart is his, you see"
and it is your own heart that you shun
you gave it too freely.

and it is when this is done
this experience is met
when trial overcome
that you truly regret.

your heart is a precious thing
it ought to be sought
it remains guarded by a King
for no less than love should release be thought.

and for no reason should it be hid
from any person or yourself
in no body should heart be rid
yet not displayed upon a shelf

A tender heart surpasses one "guarded"
without the door open no one can come in
the goal is to be openhearted
to have a heart closed should be a sin.
